Taking Your Dog to Jersey from the UK: The Easy Guide (2026)
Good news: travelling from Great Britain to Jersey counts as domestic. No Animal Health Certificate, no tapeworm treatment - here is how the drive-and-ferry trip works.

Jersey counts as domestic travel
Jersey is a Crown Dependency, and pet travel between Great Britain and Jersey is treated as domestic: no Animal Health Certificate, no tapeworm treatment, no border pet check-in on either side. We still recommend a microchip and an in-date rabies vaccination, and ferry operators simply ask that your pet is fit to travel. It is genuinely the easiest cross-water trip you can do with a pet.
The journey: drive to Poole, ferry to St Helier
From London we drive to Poole in around 2 h 30 min, then board the Condor ferry to St Helier. The crossing takes about 4 hours and pets are welcome - there is a dedicated pet lounge on board, so your dog stays with you rather than going to a kennel. Total door-to-door time is usually 7 to 9 hours depending on the sailing.
Coming home is just as easy
The return leg follows the same domestic rules: board at St Helier, cross to Poole, and we drive you home. No documents to show, no vet visits to schedule around your trip - just pack your dog's blanket and go.
No car? Anxious pet? This is where we come in
Airlines put pets in the hold, and if you do not drive, Jersey suddenly looks complicated. Our door-to-door pet chauffeur service solves both problems: we collect you and your pet at home, handle the ferry logistics, and your dog or cat never leaves your side. Flat-faced breeds airlines refuse are welcome.
